and = และ ใช้เชื่อมข้อความที่คล้อยตามกันทำหน้าที่เชื่อมคำที่เป็นชนิดเดียวกันเช่นกริยากับกริยา คำนามกับคำนาม
but = แต่ ใช้เชื่อมข้อความที่ขัดแย้งกัน
or= หรือ มิฉะนั้น ใช้เชื่อมข้อความที่ให้เลือกเอาอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง
yet= แม้กระนั้น ใช้เชื่อมข้อความที่ขัดแย้งกัน
so = ดังนั้น ใช้เชื่อมข้อความที่แสดงความเป็นเหตุเป็นผลกัน
for= เพราะว่าใช้เชื่อมข้อความที่แสดงความเป็นเหตุเป็นผลกัน
nor = และ...ไม่  ใช้เชื่อมข้อความที่คล้อยตามกัน

Subordinating Conjunctions (คำสันธานที่เชื่อมอนุประโยคเข้าด้วยกัน)

after หลังจาก although แม้ว่า ถึงแม้ว่า as เนี่องจาก as if ราวกับว่า as long as หากว่า ตราบใด because เพราะว่า before ก่อน

even if แม้ว่า even though แม้ว่า ถึงแม้ว่า if ถ้า in order that เพื่อว่า once เมื่อครั้งในอดีต since เนื่องจาก ตั้งแต่ so that เพื่อที่จะ than กว่า

though แม้ว่า ถึงแม้ว่า till จนกระทั่ง unless ถ้า until จนกระทั่ง when เมื่อ whenever เมื่อไหร่ก็ตาม where ที่ซึ่ง whereas ในขณะที่ wherever ที่ไหนก็ตาม while ทั้งๆที่
